Sometimes life gets so hectic that we start to slowly neglect ourselves. Nothing dramatic but maybe we skip some of our little rituals that are “non-essential” in order to cram more hours in the day. Perhaps that soothing bubble bath gets swapped for a quick shower, the skincare routine gets trimmed to a bare minimum and that half an hour of reading we were looking forward to gets booted off the agenda in favour of something else.
The danger is that by letting these small things slide, we can start to lose pride in ourselves, we can lose confidence in ourselves and start to feel really bleurgh. This can lead to avoiding nice things like nights out because we feel too drab to be seen by our more glamourous friends, or turning down opportunities at work because we don’t feel well informed enough to contribute. This can in turn lead to depression, anxiety and isolation.
But what do you do when you’ve already reached the isolated, anxious and depressed stage? How do you get back to your real self?
It’s time for Me Recovery – time to prioritise yourself and your needs again. Self care isn’t selfish. It's Self defence!
